Wednesday night, the Coolidge Corner Theatre hosted the Boston premiere of “Bombshell: The Hedy Lamarr Story.’’ Director Alexandra Dean, a Harvard grad, was there, along with local filmmaker Roger Lyons, whose own documentary, “Etched in Glass: The Legacy of Steve Ross,’’ debuted at the Coolidge days prior.

“Bombshell’’ tells the story of an actress who secretly helped invent a communication system for Allied warships. While Lamarr’s invention was never used in World War II, it’s been argued that it paved the way for Bluetooth and Wi-Fi.

Lyons’s film chronicles how Ross, a Holocaust survivor, settled in the Boston area, where he became a psychologist, worked to help the city’s at-risk youth, and spearheaded the establishment of the New England Holocaust Memorial.

Both films will screen again as part of the Boston Jewish Film Festival, which runs through Nov. 20. A schedule can be found at www.bjff.org.
