ABINGTON

Cookies: Abington Public Library, at 600 Gliniewicz Way, is hosting a cookie decorating workshop for youngsters on Thursday, Dec. 7, at 4 p.m. Attendees will be provided with cookies, icing, and other decorating supplies. To register, call 781-982-2139.

BROCKTON

Santa: The Brockton Public Library, at 304 Main St., is hosting a Saturday With Santa on Saturday, Dec. 9, from 1 to 4 p.m. Youngsters will have a chance to take a picture with Santa, participate in storytime, watch a holiday movie, and enjoy face painting.

DUXBURY

Stress relief: The Duxbury Free Public Library, at 77 Alden St., is hosting a workshop on Saturday, Dec. 9, at 10:30 a.m. on techniques to eliminate stress and get a better night’s sleep. To register, call 781-934-2721, ext. 5632. Attendees are asked to wear comfortable clothes.

HANSON

Holiday fest: The Hanson Fire Department is hosting the Hanson Holiday Fest on Saturday, Dec. 9, at 7 a.m. Youngsters will have breakfast with Santa at Camp Kiwanee, at 1 Camp Kiwanee Road. Tickets are $10 per person and will include a photo with Santa.

QUINCY

Movie: The Thomas Crane Public Library, at 40 Washington St., is screening the 1989 movie “National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation’’ on Monday, Dec. 4, at 2 p.m.

Books: The library is also hosting a bookstore on Thursday, Dec. 7, at 6 p.m. Shoppers can find deals on gently used books, audiobooks, CDs, and DVDs. Proceeds will benefit the library and its programs.

MILTON

History: The Milton Public Library, at 476 Canton Ave., is hosting a talk on the Halifax, Nova Scotia, explosion of 1917, after which the city of Boston sent aid and disaster relief. Attendees will learn why Halifax delivers a Christmas tree to Boston each year. The discussion will take place on Wednesday, Dec. 6, at 7 p.m.

NORTON

Party: The town of Norton is hosting a “Festival of Lights’’ on Sunday, Dec. 3, at 5 p.m. Attendees will meet at the Town Common for carols, cookies, hot cocoa, and crafts. Santa and Mrs. Claus will make an appearance.

WEYMOUTH

Movie: The Weymouth Public Library, at 46 Broad St., is screening the 1997 film “Good Will Hunting’’ on Thursday, Dec. 7, at 2 p.m.

College: The library is hosting an “Educational Seminar on College Saving’’ on Saturday, Dec. 9, at 10 a.m. Attendees will learn how to get started on college savings.
