COMPAGNIE HERVÉ KOUBI Those who missed this powerful Algerian company when it came to the Institute of Contemporary Art in March may want to scurry out to the Berkshires for a second chance. SHAKER DANCE REVIVAL PROJECT As Resident Dance Maker at Canterbury Shaker Village, choreographer/performer Lorraine Chapman is overseeing June dance intensives as well as two public performances in August. “Released’’ (Aug. 5) includes the premiere of a new work co-created by Chapman and David Parker inspired by original Shaker dances, as well as works by Diane Arvanites, Marcus Schulkind, and Doppelgänger Dance Collective. “Rising & Rotating’’ (Aug. 6) is a full day of performances by artists including Mariah Rasmussen, Grant Jacoby, and Emily Beattie. NEW YORK THEATRE BALLET This chamber troupe, founded in 1978, is known for restoring and reviving small ballet masterpieces and making them accessible via tours and intimate productions. For this program, the company presents Antony Tudor’s 1937 “Dark Elegies’’ and the new “Song Before Spring,’’ choreographed by Zhong Jing Fang and Steven Melendez, danced to music of Philip Glass performed live by New York University steel drum ensemble.
