Publishers Marketplace, which tracks book deals for industry insiders, says that Simon & Schuster paid at least $5 million for Tom Brady’s guide, “The TB12 Method: How to Achieve a Lifetime of Sustained Peak Performance,’’ which will be released in September.

The publication did not cite a specific total but said the deal was made “reportedly for $5 million or more’’ after an auction.

For perspective, publishing executives said that Amy Schumer’s memoir fetched around $9 million, and Bernie Sanders’s advance for “Our Revolution: A Future to Believe In’’ was $795,000. In 2007, the New York Post reported that tennis player Andre Agassi scored $5 million for “Open: An Autobiography.’’

Worth noting: Brady’s isn’t a memoir like those other books. Simon & Schuster describes it as an “athlete’s bible’’ in a statement. Hours after Brady announced the project, the Patriots quarterback’s title rocketed to No. 1 on Amazon’s print bestsellers list.
