Two men flying to Boston from the Dominican Republic were arrested at Logan International Airport on Saturday after they were each found to becarrying about 6½ pounds of cocaine, according to Massachusetts State Police.
Ezra Mendez, 19, and Erick Dominguez-Santos, 25, both of Allentown, Pa., arrived at Logan from Santo Domingo about 10 a.m. and were stopped at US Customs within 10 minutes of each other, a statement from the State Police said.
Both men were carrying identical black Slazenger roller bags. The bags were searched, and about 3 kilograms of cocaine wrapped in plastic were discovered in the lining of each bag, according to State Police.
“[The men] weren’t with each other, but they were associated with each other,’’ Trooper Paul Sullivan said Monday. He said the men were arrested by US Customs and Border Protection, who turned them over to State Police.
Mendez and Dominguez-Santos are being held without bail and are scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday in East Boston District Court. They are each charged with cocaine trafficking and conspiracy to violate drug law.
