Police in Franklin, N.H., evacuated several residents Wednesday amid a hunt for an armed man with a “combative past’’ who may have shot at officers early Wednesday morning, police said.
The suspect remained at large late Wednesday afternoon, according to Franklin Police Chief David Goldstein.
Franklin police officers went to an apartment building on Prospect Street at about 2:15 a.m. after a neighbor reported a domestic dispute, Goldstein said in a telephone interview.
There were injuries related to that incident, but Goldstein said he was waiting until the suspect, identified as 33-year-old Ryan Brouillard, was arrested to discuss the details.
The suspect fled the building and fired a gun as he headed toward his home on nearby Pleasant Street, Goldstein said. It was not immediately clear whether he was aiming his gun at police; no officers were hurt.
Officers believed they had trapped Brouillard inside his home, but they did not find him when tactical officers and State Police units searched the home, Goldstein said.
“He has had interactions with police on many, many, many occasions,’’ Goldstein said, “and a relatively combative past with law enforcement.’’
