Boston police are investigating a fatal shooting in Dorchester along with two other shootings in the city Tuesday night.

Shortly after 8 p.m. Tuesday, police rushed to Downer Avenue in Dorchester, where they discovered a man bleeding from gunshot wounds. The man, who appeared to be in his 20s, was rushed to a Boston area hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

Ki-asia Woods, 37, said she was at home when she heard the gunfire, followed by the sound of a car speeding away. Other area residents said they heard six shots.

Woods and her neighbors went out onto their porches and watched as police rushed to the scene, surveying the block. Officers stopped alongside a silver car, where a man sat motionless, Woods said.

Woods said she heard an officer ask the man: “Hey, hey, hey! Are you alright?’’

When the man did not respond, officers pulled him from the car and began performing CPR, Woods said.

One officer asked the man if he knew who shot him, Woods said, but the wounded man did not speak.

“It was scary,’’ Woods said. “He could have been my son.’’

Residents said a nearby park and stairwell that connects to Hancock Street has long been a place where people come to sell and use drugs.

“I’ve been warned not to walk past this area at night,’’ said Barry, 45, a neighborhood resident who declined to give his last name.

Less than 30 minutes after the fatal shooting, police rushed to the 400 block of Dudley Street for another shooting. The victim is expected to survive his injuries, police said. No arrests have been made.

The third investigation was launched when a person arrived at Boston Medical Center on their own around 10 p.m. and reported having been shot Tuesday night.
