LAFAYETTE TOWNSHIP – Nearly two weeks since Lafayette Township Trustee Bryon Macron was reported missing, authorities have little to report on what may have happened to him.
“We’re still doing the background legwork on the case,” said Capt. Ken Baca of the Medina County Sheriff’s Office, whose agency is handling the case.
Around 7:30 a.m. Dec. 16, a township worker reported the door open at the township administration building behind the town hall on Wedgewood Road and that the office appeared in disarray. It was later found that Macron was missing.
Blood was reportedly found in Macron’s office and his black SUV was found a few miles away by the navigation program Onstar in the Beachside Boulevard parking lot in Gloria Glens next to Chippewa Lake.
Baca said the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation was dispatched to inventory the office scene and collect any potential forensic evidence.
Macron was last seen at a county township association holiday party at Winking Lizard in Brunswick the night before and then reportedly went to see “Star Wars” with fellow Township Trustee Mike Costello, according to event guests.
Baca said Macron reportedly returned home to his residence and was seen by his wife early the next morning, Baca said.
Macron is married with three young daughters and is a U.S. Marines veteran. He is employed as a as a national sales manager at AV Dia, a jewelry manufacturing and wholesale company.
Macron’s wife, Victoria Macron, released a statement Dec. 23 thanking everyone for their concern and asks anyone with information to come forward.
“My family and I would like to thank the investigators working to bring Bryon home and those who are keeping our family in their thoughts and prayers. The local authorities and the FBI are doing all they can, but we need the public’s help. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Medina County Sheriff’s Department and Sgt. Kevin Ross of the detective bureau at 330-725-9116,” the statement said.
Macron was last seen in a button-down top, blue jeans and a 1/4 zip sweater. He is 6-foot-1 and approximately 290 pounds.
Macron has been a township trustee since 2010, when he was appointed to fill a vacancy, and was re-elected in 2015. Coincidentally, Donald Butler, 72, the man Macron was appointed to replace, died Dec. 16 at his Montville Township residence.
