Boston Calling backs Robyn

If, like many who saw Robyn at Boston Calling, the festival’s organizers were unhappy with the Swedish singer’s performance, they’re not saying. On the morning of her headlining Saturday night set, Robyn announced that she would be featuring remixes of her songs, including tracks by Cassius, Joakim, The Black Madonna, and Mr. Tophat. “Remixes make me listen to a song in a different way; they stretch you out as a listener and leave space for other things that a pop song usually doesn’t,’’ Robyn said in a statement. Some fans — and critics — apparently don’t feel the same way. Having paid $85 to go — or $185 to attend all three days — many patrons seemed annoyed, or at least nonplussed by Robyn’s set. They would have been happier if she just played her hits. Asked Monday about the complaints, a festival spokesman had this to say: “Boston Calling has the utmost respect for all of its performers and their artistic visions.’’
