A Leominster man is facing charges that he threatened to shoot his co-workers and make the factory where he worked “look like Orlando.’’
Javier H. Rodriguez, 39, told a co-worker Thursday night he planned to kill his shift supervisor and other employees at Mexichem Specialty Compounds in Leominster, police said. Rodriguez also asked the co-worker where he could buy a gun, authorities said.
“He stated that he would be using a gun to . . . make [the factory] look like the recent Orlando, Fla., nightclub massacre,’’ according to a police report filed in court.
Rodriguez was arrested and arraigned Friday before Leominster District Court Judge Mark Noonan on a charge of making terroristic threats. A dangerousness hearing is scheduled for Wednesday.
According to the co-worker, Rodriguez appeared pale and his face was blank while he outlined his plans.
A gunman massacred 49 people at a gay nightclub in Orlando on June 12.
The co-worker told a human resources manager, Robert Cox, about the threats Friday morning, and police were dispatched at 9:45 a.m.
According to the police report, the co-worker who heard the threats had worked with Rodriguez for about 11 years.
The issue “was dealt with. There’s no issue in the plant, no problems with the employees in the plant, and we’re working on our normal schedules,’’ Cox said.
