BRIDGET JONES’S BABY

THE MAGNIFICENT SEVEN

This remake of the classic 1960 western, itself a remake of the Japanese classic “The Seven Samurai,’’ stars Denzel Washington, Chris Pratt, Ethan Hawke, and Vincent D’Onofrio.

QUEEN OF KATWELupita Nyong’o and David Oyelowo star in this based-on-fact story of a Ugandan girl (Madina Nalwanga) seeking to become a chess champion.

THE DRESSMAKER

In 1950s Australia, the title character returns to the rural town where she grew up. Kate Winslet stars, with support from Liam Hemsworth and Judy Davis. Based on Rosalie Ham’s novel.

STORKS

Andy Samberg and Jennifer Aniston provide voice talent in this animated feature about everyone’s favorite baby-delivering system.

THE FREE WORLD

Boyd Holbrook and Elisabeth Moss star as an ex-con and housewife who fall in love. Octavia Spencer costars.

GOAT

Pledging the same college fraternity, two brothers find their relationship sorely tested. Ben Schnetzer and Nick Jonas star.

DEEPWATER HORIZON

The real-life story of the oil-rig explosion that led to the 2010 Gulf of Mexico oil spill. Dylan O’Brien, Mark Wahlberg, Kate Hudson, and Kurt Russell head the cast.

MASTERMINDS

Another based-on-fact story, this one a comedy about a 1997 armored-car robbery. On hand are Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon, Jason Sudeikis, Leslie Jones, and Zach Galifianakis.

MISS PEREGRINE’S HOME FOR PECULIAR CHILDREN

If the title of this fantasy adventure sounds very Tim Burton, that might be because he directed. Eva Green, Asa Butterfield, Samuel L. Jackson, and Allison Janney head a juicy cast.

THE GIRL ON THE TRAIN

THE ACCOUNTANT

BAD SANTA 2

It’s been 13 years since the original, and you can bet that Billy Bob Thornton’s unsaintly St. Nick, Willie T. Stokes, hasn’t aged well.

NOCTURNAL ANIMALS

Tom Ford (“A Single Man’’) directed a stellar cast — Amy Adams, Isla Fisher, Jake Gylenhaal, Armie Hammer, Laura Linney — in this thriller about a novel that’s more prediction than fiction.

RULES DON’T APPLY

After a 15-year hiatus, Warren Beatty returns to writing and directing. He plays Howard Hughes, overseeing a romance between his employees Alden Ehrenreich and Lily Collins.
