Recent bird sightings as reported to the Massachusetts Audubon Society:
?Plum Island: Sightings at Parker River National Wildlife Refuge included willow flycatchers and 17 species of warblers, including worm-eating, Tennessee, Cape May, bay-breasted, and Wilson’s.
?Medford: At the Brooks Estate there were three yellow-billed cuckoos, a black-billed cuckoo, and 22 species of warblers including worm-eating, mourning, hooded, and cerulean.
?Cambridge: At least 17 species of warblers were sighted at Mount Auburn Cemetery, as well as yellow-billed cuckoos, black-billed cuckoos, a common raven, a veery, Swainson’s thrushes, hermit thrushes, and wood thrushes.
?Concord: An official marsh bird survey conducted at Great Meadows National Wildlife Refuge recorded 17 hooded mergansers, four least bitterns, 21 Virginia rails, three soras, a common gallinule, an American coot, and 17 marsh wrens.
?East Boston: Tallied at Belle Isle Marsh Reservation were two northern shovelers, a glossy ibis, a Lincoln’s sparrow, and 14 species of warblers.
?Boston: In the Mission Hill area, 13 species of warblers were noted along with two blue-gray gnatcatchers, three Swainson’s thrushes, two veeries, and three bobolinks.
?Miscellaneous: Reports included a cattle egret at Daniel Webster Wildlife Sanctuary in Marshfield; two black vultures in Westport; and a hooded warbler at Marblehead Neck Wildlife Sanctuary.
