Employee taken to hospital after trying to stop thief
Wadsworth Police Department
Oct. 6 — Police officers received a report about a suspect attempting to push a cart of stolen items out of a Smokerise Drive retail store at approximately 5:30 p.m. A door greeter reportedly attempted to stop the suspect by grabbing the cart. The suspect allegedly pushed the cart, causing the greeter to fall and injure her head. The victim was transported to a hospital for treatment and the suspect fled the area in a vehicle with the stolen property. The incident is under investigation.
Wadsworth Police Department
Oct. 8 – The police department received a call about a possible protection order violation. After an investigation Greg White, 51, of High Street, was arrested and charged with violating a protection order.
Oct. 8 – Police officers located Haleigh Chaney, 27, of Third Street, on First Street shortly before 6 p.m. Chaney had a warrant for a parole violation. She was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Medina County Jail.
Oct. 8 – A Wolf Avenue resident told police about a violated protection order. A report was taken and an investigation is pending.
Oct. 8 – Police officers took a report about a possible identity theft of a Tolbert Avenue resident.
Oct. 7 – Police officers were dispatched to a Smokerise Drive retail store at approximately 8 p.m. in reference to a report of an attempted theft. After an investigation, Dawn Samaora, 45, of Barberton, was arrested and charged with theft by deception. The case is still open and additional charges for additional suspects are pending.
Oct. 6 – Police officers responded to a Smokerise Drive parking lot at approximately 1 a.m. to investigate a suspicious vehicle. Following an investigation, the owner of the vehicle, Keith Baker, 33, was issued a minor misdemeanor citation for possession of marijuana.
Oct. 5 – Police officers responded to Smokerise Drive at approximately 10:15 p.m. in reference to a report of a theft. The incident is under investigation.
Oct. 5 – Police officers responded to a Smokerise Drive retail store shortly before 2 p.m. in reference to a report of an older man possibly being scammed. The matter is under investigation.
Oct. 5 – Police officers initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle at High and West streets at approximately 11:30 p.m. Officers reported that the driver, Phillip Whited, 41, was in possession of marijuana. Whited was issued a minor misdemeanor citation and was released.
Oct. 5 – Police officers responded to Park Centre Boulevard at approximately 5 p.m. in reference to a report of a man possibly intoxicated and shaking inside his vehicle. Officers made contact with the man, Seth Marshall, 25, of Ashland. The man was treated by EMS then transported to the hospital. He was later transported to the Medina County Jail.
Oct. 5 – Wadsworth Municipal Court issued a warrant for David Hodges for failure to appear at a court trial on a driving under suspension violation.
Oct. 4 – Wadsworth Municipal Court issued a warrant for Cody Bruner for failure to appear at a status hearing on a theft charge.
Oct. 3 – Police officers stopped to talk to a man walking in the 1000 block of High Street at approximately midnight. Officers determined that the man James Dean, 38, of Copley, had a warrant out of the Cuyahoga Falls Police Department for theft. Officers took the man into custody without incident and later released him to the custody of Cuyahoga Falls police.
Oct. 3 – Wadsworth Municipal Court issued a warrant for Joshua Collins for failure to appear at a jail sentence.
Oct. 3 – Wadsworth Municipal Court issued a warrant for Jose Santa for failure to appear at a trial.
Oct. 2 – Police officers investigated a suspicious vehicle in a Smokerise Drive parking lot at approximately 1:20 a.m. The occupant of the vehicle, Kara Lowe, 41, of Norton, had a felony warrant through Summit County for contempt of court on a possession of heroin charge. Lowe was placed into custody and transported to the Summit County Jail.
Oct. 2 – Police officers investigated a suspicious vehicle in the 800 block of High Street just before 11 p.m. Officers reported locating drug evidence inside the vehicle. The two occupants, Thomas Galvin, 58, of Sandusky, and Michael Shepard, 36, of New London, were arrested and charged with possession of drug abuse instruments.

Oct. 4 – Wadsworth Police asked Norton to check a Pleasant Drive address for Alex W. Pethtel, 29, wanted in their city on a misdemeanor warrant. Police found him on the second try, arrested him and delivered him to Wadsworth officers.

Oct. 6 - An 18-year-old Sterling man was cited for passing on the right and reckless operation during a traffic stop on state Route 57 south of Greenwich Road in Wadsworth Township at 6:24 p.m.
Oct. 5 - A 19-year-old Ashland boy was cited for failure to signal and a 17-year-old girl was cited for no seat belt during a traffic stop at Weatherstone Park in Wadsworth at 7:36 p.m.
