Thank you to The Boston Globe and Christopher Muther for the heartwarming (and, at times, snarky) piece about returning his mother to her family’s roots in London (“In London, piecing together our family’s past,’’ Travel, Nov. 19). What an incredibly eye-opening week they both shared. As someone who has lost her mother and is the proud mother of one son, Muther’s story really hit a nerve.

This should remind us all that our journey is fleeting. We should take advantage of every opportunity to spend money on experiences, and to create memories that will last a lifetime.
