This may be the least surprising news you’ve heard in a while. According to Variety, the rights to Michael Wolff’s “Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House’’ have been sold, to a company called Endeavor Content. The book, an instant bestseller, is a not very flattering look at the first year of the Donald Trump administration.

What is unusual about this development, though, is that the book is going to be turned into a TV series, not a movie. I was assuming “Fire and Fury’’ would wind up as a movie, and probably on HBO, which ran contemporary political movies “Game Change,’’ “Recount,’’ and “Too Big to Fail.’’ Perhaps the project will turn out to be a limited series, like Ryan Murphy’s “American Crime Story’’ anthology show. It’s hard to imagine full seasons of Steve Bannon and Donald Trump sitting in front of their TV sets.

Wolff will serve as an executive producer on the project, along with former BBC executive Michael Jackson.
