On Nov. 30, Terri Searle, Medina High School physical education teacher, was presented with the Medina City Schools Distinguished Service Award. This is the highest award bestowed upon a district employee.

Searle is dedicated to her profession and takes great pride in teaching her students about healthy lifestyles. She helps guide young adolescents to follow paths to success. One can always find Searle covering numerous athletic events, facilitating professional development committees and even attending prom. She does an amazing job working with her adapted classes and takes great pride in being a part of the Special Olympics program helping to organize and set up the event each year.

Searle has been part of the Medina City Schools family for about two decades with time at Garfield Elementary, Claggett Middle School and now calling home Medina High School. She always has a positive attitude; there is absolutely no situation or problem she cannot tackle. During her short time at Garfield, she energized their physical education program focusing on state standards related to students’ gross motor development.

No matter where you find her, she befriends staff members often times maintaining those close relationships. Searle is the shining example of strength and resilience rising to every challenge presented to her both in her work and in her personal life, facing many tests and consistently coming out with a smile; she is always compassionate and committed.
