Director Jay Craven is shooting his new feature film, “Wetware,’’ on Nantucket. Billed as a “near future noir thriller,’’ the film is based on the novel by writer Craig Nova, and the cast includes “Stand by Me’’ veteran Jerry O’Connell. The film crew includes 32 students from a dozen area colleges, including Marlboro College, Wellesley College, Mount Holyoke College, Fitchburg State University, and Simmons College. Shooting started March 25 at the Latchis Hotel in Brattleboro, Vt., and has since moved to Nantucket, where it will continue through May 2. The cast and crew were last reported filming on Madaket Road. Craven’s last movie, “Northern Borders,’’ was based on a Howard Frank Mosher novel and starred Bruce Dern and Genevieve Bujold.
