Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry is in stable condition in a New York hospital after collapsing backstage during a performance on Coney Island in Brooklyn Sunday with his band Hollywood Vampires. The band includes Johnny Depp and singer Alice Cooper, who tweeted after the show: “Thanks to everyone asking about our brother @JoePerry. He is stable right now, with family & is under the best care.’’ Perry, who’ll turn 66 in September, was onstage playing guitar when, during a cover of Spirit’s “I Got a Line on You,’’ he sat down on the drum riser and then, looking dazed, slowly walked offstage. According to RollingStone.com, Perry lost consciousness and collapsed, but was revived by EMTs, who then put him on a stretcher and carried him out of the venue. The band continued to perform, though Cooper did pause at one point to say Perry had been “very sick before the show.’’ Fans at the show captured some of the drama on their cellphones and posted pictures and videos on Instagram. (The Hollywood Vampires were slated to make their late-night debut Monday on “The Late Show With Stephen Colbert,’’ but the performance has been postponed.) Attempts to reach the other members of Aerosmith were unsuccessful Monday, but drummer Joey Kramer did tweet at Perry: “@JoePerry I love you! We are?Brothers @Aerosmith & our brotherhood lives on forever.’’ Singer Steven Tyler said recently that the band is planning a farewell tour next year.
