St. Paul’s School rector will step down early

The head of St. Paul’s School in Concord, N.H., has said he will resign at the end of June, a year before his planned departure. Rector Michael Hirschfeld requested the early departure in a letter Sunday to the president of the school’s board of trustees. “This has been an unusually painful time for the entire school community and also for my family,’’ Hirschfeld wrote. “It is for this reason that I hope you will allow me to step down earlier than I had originally planned.’’ Hirschfeld was a faculty member of the school since 1994 and the school’s rector since 2010. St. Paul’s said in January Hirschfeld would step down at the end of his eight-year term in 2019.
