Patriots fans won’t soon forget Super Bowl XLIX, when, with less than half a minute to play, cornerback Malcolm Butler made an interception at the goal line, securing his team’s 28-24 victory over the Seattle Seahawks. We caught up with the 26-year-old Pro Bowler from Vicksburg, Miss., who now calls Foxborough home, to talk about all things travel.
Favorite vacation spot? I don’t have a favorite place. I like going to different places. Everywhere I go I try to enjoy, whether it’s LA, Florida. . . . I just try to enjoy and have a good time wherever I’m at.
Favorite food or drink while vacationing? Steak, fish, pasta — anything healthy and anything good.
Where would you like to travel to but haven’t? Aruba. I’ve heard really good things about it, so I’d like to check it out.
One item you can’t leave home without when traveling? My phone. Yeah, I’m one of those people who always needs to have his phone.
Aisle or window? Window, so I can lean on the window and sleep.
Favorite childhood travel memory? Going to New Orleans for an AAU track meet. I remember all of the traffic, all of the people . . . very different from where I grew up. I liked all the music playing and walking down Bourbon Street.
Guilty pleasure when traveling? I like to be lazy when I get where I’m at.
Best travel tip? I always overpack so that I make sure I have enough. So that’s what I would recommend to people: Overpack so you have everything you need.
