VERMONT VIBES

The Green Mountains are alive with sound of music at the 35th annual Burlington Discover Jazz Festival. The days-long fest is rocking near Lake Champlain now through June 10 on four outdoor stages, and in some 20 venues around the hip Vermont town. You’ll find dozens of artists playing free music each day, plus some ticketed shows. Upcoming ticketed A-listers include Grammy- and Tony Award-winner Leslie Odom Jr. of “Hamilton’’ fame, jazz/roots darling Rhiannon Giddens, and Bill Frisell Trio. RHODE ROCK

PVDFest is a free, four-day party for the arts in downtown Providence, June 7 to 10. Live music spans the spectrum, from indie rock to Ethiopian pop, jazz to old-fashioned jug band. Shop the pop-up artist colony for handmade wares and unique goods; refuel in the food village, race bumper cars, watch acrobats, join a parade. Oh, and you just might end up in the record books: dancers will guide fest attendees through a Bachata dance in an attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the “most people dancing a choreographed Bachata dance.’’ Footprint of the festival is near Kennedy Plaza. If you have tickets for Newport Folk Festival, you’re lucky — it’s sold out. But there’s still a chance to nab tickets for the iconic Newport Jazz Fest, held Aug. 3 to 5 at storied oceanside Fort Adams. Established in 1954, this is a jazz-lover’s must. Performers include George Clinton & Parliament Funkadelic, “Late Show with Stephen Colbert’’ bandleader Jon Batiste, and Grammy-winner Pat Metheny among dozens of artists, plus a beer and wine garden, unique shopping, and plenty of food. MAINE STAGE

Mark your calendar for the American Folk Festival Aug. 24 to 26 in Bangor. The free riverfront celebration of multicultural music and dance includes everything from Irish tunes to the blues, New Orleans ragtime to Puerto Rican salsa, plus workshops, parade, ethnic foods, beer and wine pavilion, unique artisan shopping, kids’ activities, and more. CAMP SONGS

On-site camping is part of the experience at the 22nd annual Podunk Bluegrass Festival in Hebron, Conn., from Aug. 9 to 12. You’ll find multiple stages, family activities, songwriting contests, workshops for children and adults, craft vendors, food vendors, and more. Headliners include Grammy-winner Tim O’Brien; award-winning millennial bluegrass band Flatt Lonesome; and Australian bluegrass siren Kristy Cox. Not a camper? BOOGIE MOUNTAIN

The 22nd White Mountain Boogie N’ Blues Festival in Thornton, N.H., Aug. 17 to 19 offers fireworks, climbing wall, food vendors, artisan crafts, and kids’ activities on a 72-acre pasture with mountain views, according to its website. Robert Randolph and the Family Band, Victor Wainwright & The Train, Zac Harmon, and Vanessa Collier are among the headliners. Limited camping is available, according to the website; some half-dozen hotels offer discounts to attendees. Single-day tickets: $40-$70. Weekend pass: $70. Kids under 12 free with adult. MASS APPEAL

The 32nd annual Lowell Folk Festival, July 27 to 29, kicks off with a parade from City Hall Plaza and includes a spectrum of folk sub-genres, from Hawaiian swing to cajun, Cape Breton to Cabo Verde. Tom Rush, John Gorka, Cheryl Wheeler, Cliff Eberhardt, Peter Mulvey, Ronny Cox, and The Kennedys are among the dozens of performers at the 23rd New Bedford Folk Festival July 7 and 8. About an hour south of Boston, the cobblestone waterfront historic downtown of Whaling City comes alive with eight stages of music, workshops, beer garden, food trucks, some 80 artisan craft vendors, and kids activities. 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. each day. The 14th annual Provincetown Jazz Festival is actually two separate nights of jazz, only one of which is in Provincetown. Both are good excuses for a summer trip to Cape Cod.
