With David Ortiz gone, so now is his physical therapist, Dan Dyrek, the Red Sox have confirmed.
Dyrek’s official title since 2012 with the Sox was coordinator of sports medicine service. Dyrek had told the organization his stay would coincide with that of Ortiz, who often credited Dyrek with keeping him healthy and able to play on a daily basis. Ortiz would often not be seen before games because he was working closely with Dyrek on getting his ankles, feet, and legs ready to go.
Ortiz made a plea to Sox ownership to have Dyrek on the road with him, and they obliged, knowing how important it was to Ortiz.
Dyrek also does work for the NBA’s Indiana Pacers because of his longtime association with Larry Bird.
Also, Jon Deeble, the Red Sox’ longtime Pacific Rim scouting coordinator, has left the organization to take a job with the Dodgers
