THE LAYOUT
Amanda Hark and Jeff Osborne of South End-based Hark+Osborne Interior Design combined multiple small rooms to create an open plan on the first floor of this summer house in Rye Beach, N.H. “We captured ocean views from every vantage point,’’ Osborne said.
THE SOFA AND CHAIRS
Two 9-foot-long Maxwell sofas from RH were placed perpendicularly and are slipcovered in the “Perennials’’ linen weave, an outdoor fabric for kid- and bathing suit-proof summer living. Hark and Osborne designed the two natural-oak lounge chairs, which were fabricated as part of a larger custom order for another client, allowing them to stick to a budget. The herringbone fabric with wide-set red stripes is by Nobilis from Webster & Company.
THE CABINET
To fill the wall perfectly, Hark and Osborne designed the long, oak cabinet with a weathered-gray stain to house the homeowner’s audio/visual equipment and books. It was made by Trinity Design in Derry, N.H.
THE COFFEE TABLE
The weathered-oak finish of the oversized Martens coffee table from RH matches the kitchen cabinetry and console. “The homeowner loves the utility of the lower shelf, where he can pile newspapers and magazines, leaving the top free for feet, drinks, and the occasional pile of seashells, compliments of the grandchildren,’’ Osborne said.
THE RUG
The homeowner requested casual floor coverings requiring little maintenance. This striped woven cotton Birmingham rug by Dash & Albert from Hudson is easy to drag outside and shake off.
