In Boston pot rush, it looks like business as usual
There was a major omission in the Dec. 4 editorial “A murky process for Boston pot shops,’’ which I otherwise mostly agree with. The manager of Ascend, the first company to sign an agreement with Boston to sell marijuana, is not just a “woman of color.’’ She is longtime Democratic politician Andrea Cabral, who served as Suffolk County sheriff and state secretary of public safety under Deval Patrick.
So which was more important in getting that agreement? Cabral’s race and gender, or her political connections?
