Matt Damon recently spoke about his involvement with Water.org at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. Speaking at a CNBC-hosted panel with Tania Bryer, he also discussed the Stella Artois “Buy a lady a drink’’ campaign. For every limited edition glass that is purchased, Stella Artois donates $6.25 to Water.org, the organization that Damon cofounded in 2009.

“Access to clean water and sanitation is just not something we think about, we solved this problem in the West 100 years ago,’’ he told Bryer. “So to clear that first hurdle of just explaining that there is an issue has been a challenge for us.’’

“It’s called ‘Buy a lady a drink’ because this is predominantly an issue about women and girls . . . it’s the women in these families who are in charge of collecting water, and what that means oftentimes is that young girls aren’t in school.’’
