Jan. 23, 1950: In a health advice column called “Why Grow Old?’’ the Globe suggests a good exercise for office workers: “When you have the opportunity, push your chair back from your desk and bend from your waist, letting your trunk and arms and head fall forward in a relaxed manner. Straighten your spine slowly, vertebra by vertebra. Repeat several times. This is extremely restful. Try it.’’
