It’s a hot summer day at the farmers’ market, and what better way to cool off than something cold and creamy? Scoop Sights Pops ($3) hit the spot. They’re dairy-free pops in four creative flavors: Lavender, Salty Toasted Coconut, Salty Caramel, and Chocolate Happiness. There are also monthly flavors. July, for instance, featured the likes of Matcha Green Tea and Rosewater; August’s offerings include Mojito. Scoop Sights also sells pints ($10). Owner Katelyn Williams, a Louisiana native, said, “Ice cream was huge in my family. It was always stocked in our freezer.’’ Soon after college she moved to Massachusetts. “I wanted to start my own ice cream business. What could be better than that?’’ Since her sister couldn’t have dairy, Williams experimented with alternate milks, settling on organic coconut cream as a base. The pops taste rich yet feel lighter than their dairy counterparts, making for a more refreshing hot-weather treat. Look for Sweet Scoops at area farmers’ markets: alternating Saturdays at Roslindale, Adams Park, Roslindale Village, and Union Square, Somerville; and alternate Sundays at SoWa Boston, 460 Harrison Ave., South End, Boston, and South End Open Market @Ink Block, 375 Harrison Ave., South End, Boston.
