A pedestrian was fatally struck by a car in Mattapan Saturday night, and State Police were searching for the driver who allegedly fled the scene.

The woman, whose identity has not been released, was hit around 10:40 p.m. at the intersection of Morton and Canterbury streets, State Police spokesman David Procopio said.

State Police said the driver left the scene after the crash. Police were looking for a dark-colored “sedan-type’’ vehicle, possibly with two doors, Procopio said.

Police urged anyone with information about the crash or the vehicle to call 911.
