Eliza Dushku is expecting.

The “Buffy the Vampire Slayer’’ actress and Watertown native is pregnant with her first child. Dushku, who got hitched to Boston real estate developer Peter Palandjian at the Boston Public Library in August, told Us Weekly that it was a “special year’’ for the couple. “I’ve been really excited about what I’m doing with my life these days,’’ Dushku told the publication. “I’ve been living in Boston. I’m about to be a senior in college. I’m studying holistic healing and addiction and trauma. And I’m newly married and I’m just so excited about this next chapter in my life. You know, I’ve been acting since I was 9 years old and I’m sort of finding these new things that I’m really excited about. It’s been a big year but a great year.’’

Dushku revealed the happy news at a New York City screening for “Mapplethorpe,’’ the film Dushku produced about the late photographer Robert Mapplethorpe. The film stars Matt Smith (“Doctor Who’’) in the titular role, and is slated for a March 1 release.KEVIN SLANE, Boston.com
