■ SCHOOL PROBE Racist graffiti was found in a student bathroom at the Mitchell Elementary School in Needham Monday, principal Gregory Bayse said in a statement. The graffiti was reported to a staff member and immediately removed, Bayse said, although “it is likely that it was seen by other students before it was removed.’’ Bayse said that the “offensive, racist’’ content of the graffiti would not be tolerated at the school and that students would attend assemblies and classroom conversations on respectful speech. “First and foremost, I want to clearly state that racist comments — in fact, any derogatory comments regarding an individual’s race, religion, sexual orientation, gender, or nationality — are not tolerated at the Mitchell School and are grounds for disciplinary action, up to and including suspension,’’ Bayse said.

■ BICYCLE CRASH Middlesex prosecutors concluded Tuesday that a Westford man killed in August 2016 while riding his bicycle in Lincoln veered across the center line and into the path of a Toyota Highlander at the time of the fatal collision. “Based on the investigation and all available evidence, no criminal charges or civil motor vehicle infractions will be filed against the operator of the Toyota Highlander,’’ the Middlesex district attorney’s office said. The bicyclist has been identified as Mark P. Himelfarb, 59, of West- ford.

■ WILD PURSUIT A man wanted for driving his car over the foot of a State Police trooper last week was captured following a pursuit Tuesday that began on Route 24 in Avon, continued north on Interstates 93 and 95, and ended inside an electronics store in Westwood. State Police identified the suspect as Jose Jimenez, 26, of Lawrence, who was booked on an outstanding warrant — and more charges — at the barracks in Milton for last Thursday’s incident in Brockton. According to State Police spokesman David Procopio, the pursuit began when a trooper from the Violent Fugitive Apprehension Section who was aware of last week’s incident spotted Jimenez and tried to pull him over, but Jimenez sped off, Procopio wrote. Troopers spotted the Camry abandoned near the Peterson School in Westwood and encountered a witness who reported seeing a man run into Osprey Wireless, an electronics store on University Avenue in Westwood, Procopio said. Troopers entered the business and took Jimenez into custody.
