Academy Award-winning director Oliver Stone (inset) will stop by Harvard’s Institute of Politics Sept. 12 to discuss his new movie, “Snowden,’’ about former NSA contractor Edward Snowden’s 2013 leak of classified surveillance documents. Stone, best known for writing and directing political films such as “JFK’’ and “Platoon,’’ will chat with forum moderator Ron Suskind, the Pulitzer Prize-winning writer who serves as director of Harvard Law School’s Investigative Journalism Project. (Suskind also wrote “Life, Animated,’’ the best-selling book about his autistic son’s obsession with Disney films and how it helped him process his emotions.) “Snowden,’’ which Stone directed and co-wrote, stars Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Shailene Woodley, Zachary Quinto, and Nicholas Cage. It comes out Sept. 16.
