Salem’s bicycle sharing program kicks into high gear Monday when three new bike stations are launched around the city.

The new stations — adding 18 bicycles to the network — will be located at Salem Willows, in the Point neighborhood, and at Salem State University’s central campus. Three other stations are already up and running through the program, which the city operates with Zagster. The price to use a bike is $3 per hour, with discounts for annual memberships.

Meanwhile in Arlington, the Minuteman Bikeway’s 25th anniversary is being celebrated with a new public art project called “Pathways.’’ Three installations will be on view this summer and two others will be added this fall. Watch for plexiglass butterflies, stencilled words, and paper animals.

Could Malden’s Commercial Street corridor become the next hot spot? A study funded by MassDevelopment is exploring how to make improvements that would promote jobs and economic development in the industrial area south of downtown — and improve access to the Malden River. A public meeting on the plan will take place at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the senior center, 7 Washington St.

Everybody in Newton complains about the zoning, but nobody has done anything about it since. . .say, 1987. That was the last time the city’s zoning code was significantly changed, and it’s been criticized as hard to both understand and administer. On Wednesday, the city will hold the first of three summertime sessions to discuss ways to update and simplify the code. It will take place from 5 to 7 p.m. at room 106 at Newton City Hall.
