MIT Energy Conference

Attend the MIT Energy Conference, the largest student-led energy conference in the United States. The event will explore changes in energy production, conversion, transmission, storage, and consumption. Keynote speakers will be Dharmendra Pradhan, Indian minister of state for petroleum and natural gas, and Ralph Izzo, chief executive of Public Service Enterprise Group. Friday, 8 a.m., to Saturday, 5 p.m., Boston Marriott, 50 Broadway, Cambridge. $100 for students, $500 general admission.

WORKSHOP

UX and UI design

General Assembly is hosting a workshop on user experience and user interface design, software elements crucial to Web products. Students will have the opportunity to become familiar with UX and UI design vocabulary and concepts and gain an understanding of how people experience the world as it relates to UX and UI design. Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., General Assembly, 125 Summer St., Boston. $180.

BOOTCAMP

Social media

Come to a bootcamp on social media business strategies. Attendees will have the opportunity to look at case studies on effective use of social media; learn best practices on how to engage people; look at monitoring, research, and engagement tools available to marketers and brands; and learn how to evaluate social standing of a brand. Python programming

Attend a class on Python programming. Participants will have the opportunity to learn fundamental Python programming techniques and tools; the history of Python and how it compares to other programming languages; and how to solve real-world problems with Python.
