■ ROAD RAGE Authorities on Monday arrested a Manchester, N.H., man on charges he brutally beat a young woman last week during a road rage incident on Interstate 93 in Methuen, Massachusetts State Police said. Joseph Falero, 37, was arrested around 8 a.m. Monday in Manchester, according to State Police. He’s charged with assault with intent to murder, assault with a dangerous weapon, and motor vehicle violations, said David Procopio, a State Police spokesman. He said the alleged attack occurred on the evening of March 6 on the side of Interstate 93 northbound. “Troopers found a 30-year-old woman suffering from significant injuries and facial lacerations,’’ Procopio said. “The woman was covered in mud and snow and appeared to be in shock.’’ Procopio said investigators determined that Falero sideswiped the woman’s car with his Honda Civic. “Both drivers exited their cars,’’ Procopio said. “When the woman attempted to call police, the man began severely beating her in the face, and when she fell to the ground he kicked her in the face, neck, and back. The woman began to lose consciousness.’’ The suspect fled the interstate.

■ EX-CHIEF SENTENCE The former fire chief of a Maine town is due to be sentenced for setting fire to a large marsh area. Ricky Plummer, 61, former fire chief in Old Orchard Beach, is set for sentencing on Wednesday. He pleaded guilty in October to setting a fire that spread over 40 acres in the town in April 2016. He was the town’s fire chief at the time. The Journal Tribune reported Plummer told a forest ranger he had carelessly discarded a cigarette and matches into cattails. No one has been able to verify he was a smoker, and no cigarette butts were found at the fire’s origin. Plummer went on administrative leave before resigning. (AP)

■ CANDLES SPARK FIRE A two-family home in West Bridgewater caught fire on Tuesday afternoon when a man left candles burning in his apartment after losing power in the blizzard, officials said. Fire Chief Kenneth May said the man left his unit at 600 North Main St. just before 1 p.m. Heavy snow and winds pelted fire fighters, he said, hampering their work. Residents of another apartment had to be evacuated. One person was taken to the hospital for evaluation with minor injuries, May said.

Troopers arrested 40-year-old Jeffrey Mailhot of North Stratford on Monday. Police said Mailhot was wanted for failing to appear in court on a felony theft charge and a vehicle violation. (AP)
