WALTHAM — Because of their hectic recent schedule, the Celtics have had few chances to practice. Then on Thursday, when they finally got the opportunity, the session was stopped because of a power outage.
The lights went out about 30 minutes into practice at the team’s training facility. A team spokesman said a fire at a nearby building caused the outage.
Some players remained on the court, dribbling around in the dark. Some staff members held up smartphones for light. After about 15 minutes, though, the lights came back on and the brief session resumed.
Guard Isaiah Thomas, named an All-Star for the first time on Thursday, missed practice because of a mild ankle injury, but he is expected to play against the Magic Friday.
A spree of threes
When Celtics guard Avery Bradley returned after missing three games this month with a bruised hip, he initially struggled with his long-range shooting, going just 2 for 20 from beyond the 3-point arc.
But he seems to have regained his touch, making 16 of 37 3-point attempts (43.2 percent) over the last six games. In the Celtics’ 111-103 win over the Nuggets Wednesday, Bradley drained five 3-pointers and tied his season high with 27 points.
“I just had a bit of a shooting slump,’’ Bradley said. “Now I have my confidence and I’m trying to knock down shots for my team.’’
Wary of Magic
The Magic were one of this season’s early surprises, as their young and athletic squad surged into the middle pack of the Eastern Conference. But they have fallen on hard times.
Orlando comes to TD Garden Friday night riding a seven-game losing streak. It has lost 11 of its last 12, with the only win coming against the lowly Brooklyn Nets.
But Brad Stevens remains understandably wary of the Magic, as they throttled the Celtics, 110-91, in Orlando on Nov. 29.
“I still think they are going to be a team that’s going to be reckoned with,’’ said the Celtics coach. “They’ve had a tough little stretch. Everyone is going to have ups right now and everyone is going to have down times, but this is a team that is super-athletic and they have a bright future.
“When we went down there, we got pounded. So the way I look at it is, if a team beats you and you’ve played them once, they are a lot better than you are. So we’ll find out.’’
After playing each other Friday, the Celtics and Magic will meet again in Orlando Sunday evening. The Magic have had some bad luck in their losing streak, as three of the seven losses have come in overtime.
