More than 200 “zombies” were part of the “Thriller” dance downtown last year.
WADSWORTH – There will be a little something for Halloween enthusiasts of all ages during Main Street Wadsworth’s Scare on the Square Thursday, Oct. 25.
This downtown tradition will take place from 5 to 8 p.m. with roads closed off in the downtown to make room for festivities.
Kristy Doyle of Main Street Wadsworth said trick or treat will take place from 5 to 6 p.m.
“Currently we have 30 to 35 downtown businesses participating in trick or treat,” Doyle said. “There are also some area nonprofits and other organizations that will be there as well.”
Starting around 6 p.m. event goers will notice the slow ensemble of zombies as they start to take their place on the square. They will lie or sit motionless on or around the gazebo island and will come alive at approximately 6:30 p.m. when the “Thriller” flash mob begins. The zombies will dance their way west heading down College Street.
New this year will be a zombie pub crawl where residents can enjoy fun and festivities at some of the downtown restaurants that will remain open for the rest of the event.
“It will give people a chance to stay and enjoy the restaurants and also party with some zombies,” Doyle said.
The event will include additional fun features such as costume contests. All are welcome to this free event and are encouraged to dress up and be creative.
Doyle also added that for people who can’t make it to the event, they will at least get an opportunity to check out the festivities while they are going on.
“Both the city and Main Street Wadsworth are planning to do Facebook Live videos during the event,” she said.
