Where La Casa de Pedro

What Leather barber chairs that double as VIP bar seats at the Seaport’s new Latin restaurant.

Whose idea It’s common to enjoy a glass of wine or at least some tea at the hair salon — but at the Seaport’s new La Casa de Pedro, it’s the other way around. Owner Pedro Alarcón grew up in Venezuela with close ties to his dad, who often took him to the barbershop for quality bonding time every week, starting when Alarcón was about 9 years old. “We’d just sit, getting a haircut, talking to people for two hours or watching a little black-and-white TV. It brings back such good memories,’’ he says. He hopes the cushy seats have that feel-good effect on his new and loyal customers, many of whom have dined at La Casa de Pedro’s Watertown branch for the last 20 years. “My father made me who I am. He taught me to respect people, and these chairs bring back those memories,’’ he says.
