
Will Rayman had 21 points, Sean O'Brien added 20 and the Colgate men’s basketball team knocked BU out of first place in the Patriot League with a 67-58 win Wednesday night at Case Gym.
Malcolm Regisford added 10 points and 14 rebounds for the Raiders (5-15, 3-4), who made 7 of 8 free throws in the final 33 seconds.
The Terriers (10-9, 5-2) trailed the entire second half and got as close as 56-55 on Justin Alston’s jumper with 3:05 left.
Eric Fanning had 21 points and 12 rebounds and Alston added 18 points and eight rebounds for BU.
Rayman’s 3-pointer with 2:48 left made it 59-55 and the Raiders defense held after Alston cut it to 60-58 with 1:25 to go.
The Terriers opened the game with a 15-2 lead but Colgate quickly erased it and had the lead for good at 23-21 with 1:52 left in the first half.
UMass 62, Saint Joseph’s 57 — Zach Lewis scored a career-high 23 points to lead the Minutemen at Amherst. Lewis hit 8 of 19 from the field and 4 of 10 from 3-point land.
C.J. Anderson added 12 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists for UMass (12-7, 2-4 A-10).
Saint Joseph’s held a marginal lead for the first 10 minutes of the second half. But two Donte Clark free throws, part of a 12-0 UMass run, gave the Minutemen the lead.
The Hawks managed to tie the score at 53 on a James Demery free throw, however Holloway answered with another layup and UMass led the rest of the way.
Holy Cross 85, Army 76 — Karl Charles scored a career-high 24 points and the Crusaders (10-10, 4-3 Patriot League) rallied from a 17-point second-half deficit at West Point, N.Y.
Army led, 56-30, with 16:56 remaining, but a Jehyve Floyd layup (his only points of the game) sparked the Crusaders to a 24-9 run over the next nine-plus minutes to pull the score within 65-63.
Back-to-back 3-pointers by Charles gave Holy Cross its first lead of the night, 74-70, with 4:07 left and the Crusaders led the rest of the way.
