THE WALLPAPER

Interior designer Kelly Rogers helped a Newton family create a room for two sisters who love to share. For the focal wall, Osborne & Little’s “Benvarden’’ wallpaper, with its trailing vines, leaves, flowers, and pomegranates, is the starting point for a whimsical scheme of colors and patterns that will grow with the girls into young adulthood.

THE PAINT

Rogers chose Benjamin Moore’s “Lime White,’’ a historical color from the company’s Williamsburg collection, to match the ground color of the wallpaper. “We mixed creamy whites and brighter whites in the room to give it a modern slant,’’ Rogers said.

THE BEDS

Rogers moved a teal Jenny Lind bed from Land of Nod (now Crate & Kids) from an upstairs bedroom into this one, then asked the homeowner to buy another. “It’s a classic silhouette that will never go out of style,’’ Rogers said. “The zippy color keeps it from being too juvenile.’’ The Annie Selke bedding is a casual mix of small patterns and soft colors, and the custom bolsters are made from a Stroheim ikat fabric called “Madagascar Turquoise,’’ trimmed in pink.

THE TABLE & THE LIGHTING

The Bungalow 5 Valentina side table is large enough for sharing, and the lacquered papyrus finish adds a bit of natural texture. The white glass and chrome Day Lily pendant by Cyan Design echoes the botanical pattern in the wallpaper, but with a modern edge.

THE RUG

The striped, multicolor broadloom area rug from Williston Weaves in Newton looks like wool, but is made from more durable and less expensive nylon. “It’s the perfect pattern and color combination to ground the room,’’ Rogers said.
