Sharon Public Library has rolled out its Library on Wheels home delivery service. The free service for library members offers door-to-door delivery of all materials the library offers, including books, DVDs, and music recordings. Participants may choose items they’d like delivered or list genres, books, and authors they enjoy and the library staff will select for them. To register for the service, download an application from www.sharonpubliclibrary.org or visit the library’s adult center for a paper copy. To request a delivery, call 781-754-1578, ext. 1426, at least one day in advance.
Lapels Dry Cleaning’s satellite store in Marshfield was converted into a full-service plant in late February. The dry-cleaning services chain headquartered in Hanover boasts an environmentally friendly, nonhazardous cleaning process that is odorless and gentle on clothing. The Marshfield location now offers such services as same-day dry cleaning, tailoring, and shoe repair. It will celebrate its grand opening on Saturday, March 19, and is open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, and noon to 3 p.m. Sunday.
Vehicle access to Cliveden Street in Quincy will be shut down for about a year beginning Monday, March 14, to accommodate construction of two six-story condominium buildings by Galvin Structures LLC. Company president Sean Galvin said the sidewalk opposite the construction site will stay open and he does not expect the street closure to affect other traffic in the area or adjacent businesses.
Fitness Unlimited in Milton will soon revamp its lobby and weight room to give them a contemporary focus. President and chief executive Paul Maduri said each area of the facility has received minor improvements since the fitness center opened more than 35 years ago but this project will “start from scratch.’’Pending building permits,Maduri hopes to begin the four- to six-week renovation by May 1. Normal gym hours — 5 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 5 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, and 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday — will not be affected, he said.
