Trump’s run stokes misplaced fear in GOP

RE “GOP fears about Trump go way beyond Election Day’’ (Page A1, Aug. 28): The Republicans fear that Donald Trump — as you say in the article’s subhead — “could long poison voter attitudes’’ toward the GOP? How about being concerned that their nominee is stirring up extra venom toward immigrants by giving support to the idea that white blue-collar America’s economic distress is the fault of “those people’’?

For goodness’ sake, all these possibly orphaned politicos could switch parties, found a new party, or just get another job. Few, if any, of them are in danger of being physically attacked in this country, seeing their children ostracized, or being sent back to a country where their lives will be in peril. Maybe a little more awareness that actual lives are being affected would help the party.
