From the sidewalk, it looks something like an A-frame house from ski country. It has a double front door of blonde oak that smacks of a western ranch home. And inside, the ceiling height of the foyer is so high, at 28 feet, it seems chintzy to call it a “cathedral’’ — a celestial ceiling, maybe?

The word that does apply to this three-bedroom house is custom. The owners had it built to their liking — and that includes an expansive first floor with the ceiling clad in pine board, flooring of hand-scraped tobacco wood, and six unobstructed, large main windows. There is also radiant heat for the first floor.

To the right as one enters the house, is the living area, an expansive space under four of those main windows. The fireplace looks — by design — like an afterthought. A mantel of white stone rests against the wall, as if it were just dropped there for a moment. But it’s actually half of a working, two-sided gas fireplace.

From the entry and to the left is the dining area, snuggled into a corner of the room near two standard-sized windows. Steps away is what is clearly a beloved space in this house — the kitchen, which measures out at some 280 square feet and has a ceiling of a much more human height (about 8 feet), the result of the landing above it on the second floor.

An island with an overhang and space for four seats is on the right side as one enters the kitchen space. The poured-concrete countertops are painted a flat black, and the cabinetry that winds around the space is solid wood. The high-end gas stove is stainless steel, and the backsplash is copper.

A short hallway brings you to a 165-square-foot family room with a half bath, and also leads to the master suite. The bedroom area has high, angled ceilings, a 10-square-foot closet, and the flip side of the gas fireplace from the living area. Here, though, the fireplace is framed by glass. Windows on either side of the bed are made of wavy glass squares.

The full bath has a shower wall made of the same wavy glass squares and a multi-headed shower on a raised white frame that resembles a surfboard. The backsplash and floor are ceramic tile. The double vanity has bowl sinks. The flooring is made of gray porcelain tiles.

In the front living area, a wide set of stairs leads to the second floor and a rectangular landing. Off the landing are two bedrooms, the larger of which has a set of doors leading to a 441-square-foot deck. On the second floor is a full bath with a standalone shower/bath combination with a whirlpool tub and white and clear glass walls. There is a single pedestal vanity and flooring is tile.

The basement, reached from the same hallway as the master, is furnished and eclectic with carpeted floors. There is knotty-pine wainscot, and an area is set aside as a beauty salon complete with sink and a separate half bath. There is also a playroom, storage space, and exercise, laundry, and utility rooms.

The driveway passes in front of the house and loops to the right side before ending underneath the deck. Drivers must reverse the route to return to the street, which is also Route 37. The home sits on a 0.11-acre lot.

Tina Davis-Chiruna of Jack Conway and Co. in Plymouth is the listing agent. As of press time, an offer with contingencies was accepted on this property.
