Will Baker draw a line in the sand on Trump?

Governor Baker has indicated that, in spite of a record number of calls from his constituents asking him to do so, he will not be denouncing the appointment of nationalist Stephen Bannon as White House chief of strategy. Baker would prefer to take a “let’s see what else happens’’ approach (“Baker cautions on judging Trump,’’ Page A1, Nov. 17).

If Baker will not condemn the appointment of a man that the Southern Poverty Law Center, the NAACP, the Anti-Defamation League, and many Massachusetts state and federal elected officials have spoken out against, then what will it take for him to stand up to a Trump administration?

Will Baker condemn the appointment of Senator Jeff Sessions for attorney general, a man who was judged by the Senate in 1986 as being too racist for a federal judgeship? Will he stand up against a Muslim registry that many Trump surrogates have discussed over the past two weeks?

Is there a point where the racism of the Trump administration becomes too much for Governor Baker? Does he have a line in the sand?
