Longtime WCVB-TV reporter and anchor J.C. Monahan, whose departure from the ABC affiliate was announced in February, has landed at NBC. NBC Boston announced Tuesday that Monahan will anchor the station’s afternoon and evening weekday newscasts. She’ll be on air starting in mid-July.

Kenny Plotnik, vice president of news for NBC Boston, released this statement: “We are thrilled to welcome J.C. to the NBC Boston family. Her years of experience in the Boston news scene, both as a news anchor and meteorologist make her an invaluable addition and I’m proud and honored to call J.C. a member of our team.’’

When her departure was announced in February, Monahan, who was at WCVB for 15 years, wrote in a statement to friends and colleagues: “Personal growth comes when you step outside your comfort zone, and I am ready to chart a new course.’’ Looks as if she has found it. NBC Boston launched in January after the network split with WHDH-TV (Channel 7).
