Two men were arrested in connection with a Dorchester shooting that sent a man to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries Saturday afternoon, police said.

Gang unit officers were patrolling the area around Harvard and Warner streets shortly after 2 p.m. when they heard shots fired nearby, police said.

The officers found the victim, a 30-year-old man, and additional responding officers arrested Mackenzie Guillaume, 27, of Mattapan and Hubman Hunter, 25, of Dorchester, according to Officer Stephen McNulty, a Boston police spokesman.

Both men are set to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court on Monday on multiple firearm and assault charges, including assault with intent to murder, McNulty said.

Police said both suspects were known to the officers. McNulty would not comment on a motive.

The shooting was reported at 2:11 p.m. near the corner of Warner and Harvard streets, McNulty said.

The shooting sent two people running for cover inside Mini-Central Convenience, said clerk Jahirul Islam, 29.

Islam and his friend, who gave only his first name, James, said they were rattled and remained inside the store. “We heard the sounds,’’ James said. “We stayed in the store to be safe.’’

Next door, a clerk working at a liquor store at the corner of Bernard and Harvard streets said she heard a gunshot strike one of the store’s windows, and she dropped to the floor.

“That’s how I found out’’ about the shooting, said the clerk, who declined to give her name. “Everything was too quick.’’

Police had Warner Street blocked with a cruiser around 4 p.m. but reopened the road a few minutes later.

A 23-year-old woman living in an apartment building said she was returning home when she saw police evidence markers in the street.

“There is a little too much going on in the neighborhood,’’ said the woman, who gave only her first name, Don. “We need to stop the violence.’’

“An incident like this continues to show that my officers are out there every day in the neighborhoods we serve,’’ Police Commissioner William Evans said in a statement. “They were in the right place at the right time and responded immediately to this brazen act of violence in broad daylight.’’
