You probably already know about the upcoming feature film “Patriots Day,’’ due in December. It’s about the 2013 Boston Marathon bombing and stars Mark Wahlberg, J.K. Simmons, Michelle Monaghan, Kevin Bacon, and John Goodman.

Oh, and Vincent Curatola — Johnny Sack from “The Sopranos’’ — as Mayor Menino.

And you may already know about the upcoming feature “Stronger,’’ with Jake Gyllenhaal as bombing survivor Jeff Bauman. It’s due in theaters next year.

But there’s another film about the Marathon coming our way in the meantime. It’s called “Marathon: The Patriots Day Bombing,’’ and it’s an HBO documentary set to premiere on Nov. 21.

Directed by Ricki Stern and Annie Sundberg, the documentary opens with the tragedy. But it focuses more specifically on those affected by the blast for the next three years. How have they dealt with the grief and the long road to both physical and psychological healing, and what impact has the bombing had on Boston’s collective identity? The film will also cover the trial of Dzhokhar Tsarnaev.

“Marathon: The Patriots Day Bombing’’ was made in association with the Globe, which won a Pulitzer Prize for its Marathon bombing coverage, and it includes home movies, surveillance footage, and interviews with first responders, survivors, investigators, and reporters.

The poster is bold: The Marathon being run, as seen between a pair of prosthetic legs. The tagline: “American Strength. Individual Courage. It Didn’t End at the Finish Line.’’

The trailer is more focused on being inspirational. “So much was taken from us,’’ says one victim, “but not my sense of humor.’’ Yeah, prepare for a few healthy tears.
