Computer science already has a code of ethics
Re “Computer science has an ethics crisis’’ (Ideas, April 1): Instead of speculating about a possible code of ethics for computer professionals, Yonatan Zunger would have done readers a better service by pointing them to the field’s existing codes of ethics, most notably the one designed by the oldest and most respected organization in computing, the Association for Computing Machinery. Their code of ethics has held up extraordinarily well through decades of change in computing, and is now being revised with member input.
