The funeral for Raekwon Brown, the 17-year-old junior at Jeremiah E. Burke High School who was shot to death near the school last week, will be held Thursday at a Roxbury church.
A visitation will be held at 10 a.m. at the Charles Street A.M.E. Church on Warren Street, and a funeral service will follow at 11 a.m., according to the J.B. Johnson Funeral Home.
His burial at Oaklawn Cemetery in Roslindale is scheduled for 1:45 p.m., according to a notice on the funeral home’s website.
Brown, a well-liked junior who had a near-perfect attendance record at his Dorchester school, was killed June 8, shortly after a fire alarm sounded at the school around 1 p.m. His death has evoked a flood of sadness, sympathy, and anger across Boston.
At the school’s graduation Friday night, Mayor Martin J. Walsh spoke about Brown’s death, noting that many in the community had been exposed to violence before.
“There’s an injustice behind that, and we should all be upset with that,’’ Walsh said.
Boston Police are still investigating the shooting, which wounded two other students and a 67-year-old woman who was passing by. Anyone with information is urged to contact police.
