Hello Wadsworth. Wadsworthopoly Live is about to air its final episode and I hope this gives me an opportunity to meet many of you.
Instead of the usual one-hour format, Wadsworthopoly live will be a 90-minute show from 5:30 to 7 p.m. May 9. As always Roger Polk will be live at WCTV and the episode will also be broadcast live on 97.1 Wadsworth Community Radio.
Also during this time there will be a live broadcast from City Hall to introduce the Wadsworthopoly scavenger hunt series where I will be giving prize opportunities to people who would like to stop by.
Wadsworthopoly game boards are not necessary for the scavenger hunt if participants want to stay home and call in for smaller prize opportunities, but anyone who wants to “go on the hunt” and play for the big prizes will need a game board.
Now let’s take a look around town.
CityLink news
CityLink has been cablecasting both analog and digital signals since April 3 and will begin the process of removing the analog channels beginning on May 15.
Anyone using an old analog TV set will cease receiving channels on that date, unless they have a digital adapter installed.
DTA’s can be ordered on line at wadsworthcitylink.com, or at the customer service center at City Hall or by calling 330-335-2888.
These adapters rent for $1.99 each per month. If you are using the digital cable tuner inside your HDTV set, you need to auto-program or channel scan your TV once again when all the analog channels are removed.
Subscribers who already have a DTA or set-top from CityLink will not be affected. Don’t wait, you will lose cable service on May 15 on older analog TVs if you don’t have a DTA installed.
Wadsworth Democrats clean up
Members of Wadsworth Democrats observed Earth Day April 22 by getting their hands dirty and cleaning up some of the local parks.
Volunteers with the group traveled to Miller Park, Durling Park, Friedt Park and Holmesbrook Park to pick up trash that day and make our parks more beautiful.
Senior prom
Local senior citizens danced the night away at Wadsworth High School April 19 during the 2017 Senior Citizens Prom. The event was made possible by the Soprema Senior Center, Wadsworth Older Adults Foundation and Professional Friends. More than 120 guests were in attendance and poodle skirts and black leather jackets were the preferred attire.
The guests bopped to oldies favorites spun by DJ Tim Cole and Jim Koewler of The Koewler Law Firm served as Master of Ceremonies.
Liberty Residence, Altercare of Wadsworth, Hillcrest Food Service and Seville Meadows provided dinner and decorations were designed and produced by the Wadsworth High School marketing class under the direction of instructor Dwain Kibler. Students from the WHS Interact Club volunteered at the event under the direction of Assistant Principal Chris Sieber.
The highlight of the evening was crowning the king and queen, Gerry and Linda Schendel.
