Amtrak’s Southwest Chief

The Southwest Chief runs daily between Chicago and Los Angeles, passing through eight states along the way. Among other highway links, there are bus connections available at several Arizona stations to allow passengers to visit the Grand Canyon. Amtrak’s “Trails & Rails’’ program brings National Park Service guides aboard the Southwest Chief on some runs. Accommodations range from reserved coach seats to Superliner roomettes, to Superliner bedrooms and bedroom suites (which include private bathroom facilities). Amtrak’s Lake Shore Limited

The Lake Shore Limited offers daily service connecting both Boston and New York with Chicago (via Albany). The route includes the south shore of Lake Michigan, the Mohawk River, and the Erie Canal.
